The Crew (9-3-7) defeated Atlanta United (4-10-5) 3-1 behind two goals from Jacen Russell-Rowe at Lower.com Field on Jun 25.
Following eight missed shot attempts from the Crew to open the game, midfielder Andres Herrera put Columbus on the board with his first goal of the season at the 23-minute mark.
Russell-Rowe tacked on the next two goals, starting with one in the 32nd minute. From the right corner of Atlanta’s goal, Russell-Rowe created and scored while battling to maintain possession against Atlanta defender Efrain Morales.
Russell-Rowe found the back of the net again 10 minutes later off a pass from forward Diego Rossi, giving the Crew a three-goal cushion going into halftime.
The Crew lost their chance at a shutout in the 56th minute. After an apparent save by Evan Bush, a review determined that a shot from Atlanta defender Brooks Lennon actually crossed the goal line.
Riding a two-game winning streak, the Crew host the Eastern Conference’s top team, the Philadelphia Union on June 29. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.

From the center of Atlanta’s box, Rossi found Russell-Rowe on his left side and dished a pass to Russell-Rowe, who took just one touch to create his shot.

Columbus Crew change water-bottle policy for Atlanta United game at Lower.com Field
Fans attending the Crew’s matchup against Atlanta United on June 25 will be allowed to bring an empty water bottle into Lower.com Field due to the current heat advisory in Columbus, the club announced.
According to the announcement, each fan will be permitted one empty, clear water bottle, no larger than 16 ounces, to fill up at water fountains throughout the venue.
