Severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Licking, Fairfield counties as storms move through

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 7:45 p.m. Friday, June 27, for parts of Licking and Fairfield counties in central Ohio as a line of thunderstorms moves through, the National Weather Service in Wilmington said.

The thunderstorm was located on radar over Newrak, Heath and Lancaster at 7:04 p.m., moving east at about 25-30 mph.

The storm could bring 60 mph gusts and damage trees and power lines, the NWS said.

Columbus, nearby areas previously under warning

The National Weather Service previously issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northeastern Franklin County, southeastern Delaware County and southwestern Licking County until 6:45 p.m. Friday, June 27.

The storm was located over Ohio State University at 6:16 p.m. and could bring 60 mph wind gusts and damage to trees and powerlines, the NWS said. The storm was moving quickly off to the east.
