Cincinnati Reds game vs. Boston Red Sox suspended in 4th, to resume Wednesday

BOSTON – The Boston Red Sox picked this week with the Cincinnati Reds in town to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the epic, seven-game World Series that the Big Red Machine won in a Game 7 comeback.

Carlton Fisk has even been on hand this week.

The only thing missing was the rain. Until Tuesday night, when they completed re-living the end of that rain-delayed World Series.

After more than an hour of waiting through a delay in the top of the fourth Tuesday night, the game was suspended and is now scheduled to resume at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Wednesday’s regularly scheduled game remains on a 7:10 p.m. schedule.

The Red Sox lead 2-1 after scoring twice off Brady Singer in the first inning, with Jarren Duran and Roman Anthony hitting back-to-back doubles leading off the inning and eventually scoring.

The Reds scored in the third after Will Benson and Christian Encarnacion-Strand led off with back-to-back singles. Both advanced on TJ Friedl’s soft grounder to third, and Benson scored on Matt McLain’s ensuing grounder to third.
