Browns set to start Shedeur Sanders in Week 12 vs. Raiders

Shedeur Sanders is now on track to make his first career NFL start in Week 12, as starting QB Dillon Gabriel is unlikely to clear the league’s concussion protocol in time. This development follows Gabriel’s exit during the second half of the game against the Baltimore Ravens, and was first reported by Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. The uncertainty surrounding Gabriel’s availability places the fifth-round pick squarely into the spotlight for the Cleveland Browns’ next contest against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Sanders made his regular-season debut against the Ravens, taking over for Gabriel. While the opportunity was significant, his performance was subpar, highlighting the steep learning curve for the young passer.

In his half of action, Sanders completed just 4 of 16 passes for a total of 47 yards. He threw one interception, was sacked twice, and finished the day with a meager 13.5 passer rating. He also added 16 rushing yards on three carries.

Sanders himself acknowledged after the game that he “didn’t play good at all,” but the impending start will offer him an invaluable opportunity to work with the first-team offense and prepare as the designated starter, a process he has not yet experienced in his brief professional career.
