Breeze Airways is launching a new nonstop route from John Glenn Columbus International Airport to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic in January 2027, an airline spokesperson told The Dispatch.
The new nonstop will run seasonally on Mondays and Fridays beginning Jan. 8. Fares will start at $179, Breeze Airways spokesperson Ryne Williams said.
This route will be John Glenn Columbus’ fourth international nonstop and the only nonstop destination for the airport in the Caribbean, Williams said.
Lukas Johnson, chief commercial officer at Breeze Airways, said the airline chose the route because Punta Cana is a popular Caribbean destination and air traffic at John Glenn Columbus has grown significantly.
“During the winter periods, people want to get out and get to some of those beautiful all-inclusives, so it makes sense to go out and try this. We’re really excited for this. The airport has been a great partner,” he said.
Breeze is confident that the route will be popular with fliers, even with fuel prices currently rising, Johnson said.
John Glenn Columbus’ third international nonstop to Montreal via Air Canada launched on May 1, just days before Breeze’s announcement.
