Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor, like anyone else, heard the comments from cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt this week.
Taylor responded like many fans might, too: By issuing a challenge.

After Taylor-Britt owned up to needing to play better, Taylor kept a public reply short, yet potent, as captured by CLNS Media’s Mike Petraglia:
“Now, you’ve got to prove it’s going to be consistent. Some of his plays (Sunday) weren’t his best. I see better than I hear.”

It’s a pretty stark departure from the standard Zac Taylor media exchange. He’s prone to defending his guys to a fault and keeping things vague.
Still, more than anything, perhaps this is just Taylor taking a different track with a player he thinks will respond well to it.
Taylor-Britt struggled in a big way last year when the team expected a breakout, then had some rough patches in the Week 1 win over the Cleveland Browns. In the wake of this public exchange, if nothing else, expectations for Taylor-Britt just got bigger.
