The Cincinnati Bengals’ stance on being willing to trade defensive end Trey Hendrickson could change if they lose their NFL Week 9 game against the Chicago Bears at Paycor Stadium, according to a report via Twitter/X from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Schefter added that the Bengals have told teams they don’t intend to trade Hendrickson.
Hendrickson was listed as doubtful on the team’s injury report. Hendrickson did not practice Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.
Hendrickson aggravated his hip injury during the second quarter of the team’s NFL Week 8 loss to the Jets at Paycor Stadium. Hendrickson limped off the field just before halftime, and did not return to the game.
A late block from behind by Jets offensive lineman John Simpson left Hendrickson rolling around in pain on the play in which he aggravated his injury.
Hendrickson, the 2024 NFL sacks leader, was inactive for the team’s NFL Week 7 win against Pittsburgh on Thursday Night Football. Analyst Kirk Herbstreit said during the broadcast that the Bengals’ pass rush without Hendrickson was a non-factor.
Hendrickson was injured during the second quarter of the team’s NFL Week 6 loss to Green Bay at Lambeau Field.
Hendrickson was ranked No. 1 among ESPN’s top 25 players who could move at the 2025 NFL trade deadline Nov. 4. ESPN’s Bill Barnwell proposed that the Bengals trade Hendrickson to Detroit.
