Bengals' Joe Burrow named a winner in Myles Garrett blockbuster trade

A pair of marquee NFL trades highlighted the beginning of a new month. The most notable move was the Cleveland Browns star defensive end Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for Jared Verse and draft picks.

Garrett, 30, was the No. 1 overall pick by the Browns in 2017 and is a five-time first-team All-Pro and two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year (2023, 2025).

With plenty of reaction league wide around the news, Sporting News listed AFC North quarterbacks Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson and Aaron Rodgers as winners in the latest blockbuster.

That trio of quarterbacks will no longer have to worry about game planning against Garrett. In 14 career games against the Bengals, Garrett has 16 sacks.

Last season, he sacked Burrow twice in the Bengals’ season-opening 17-16 win in Cleveland. In Week 18, Garrett sacked Burrow in the fourth quarter to break the NFL’s single-season sacks record at Paycor Stadium.

“He’s an absolute nightmare. And so, no, I don’t enjoy one second of preparing for him,” Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said leading up to last year’s season-finale.

Garrett is the Browns’ all-time sacks leader and is tied with Dwight Freeney for 20th in NFL history with 125.5.
