Bengals' Joe Burrow crowned 'international superstar' for NFL

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is an international star.

The NFL schedule reveal of the overseas games for this season says as much.

There, the NFL went out of its way to make sure Burrow and the Bengals finally got their global stage, putting them into a matchup with the Atlanta Falcons in Madrid, Spain.

And it says a lot about how the NFL views Burrow and the Bengals.

ESPN’s Peter Schrager explained that Madrid is a “massive area of market growth for the NFL” and that it is a “priority to really build that fanbase.”

And the NFL picked the Bengals. The Falcons were set for the occasion, but the league had plenty of options.

It speaks to the status of the Bengals brand alongside Burrow right now. And he’s becoming a headliner of an ambassador for the sport, too. Keep in mind Burrow’s late appearance at the Pro Bowl after the league appeared to need some help, as well as his repping the NFL during the flag football game.

The Bengals, to their credit, matched this energy and status with their all-in offseason moves in an effort to prolong this boom of the brand.
