Bengals issue statement after major stadium lease news

The Cincinnati Bengals were right behind the official announcement of a lease extension agreement with Hamilton County with a statement of their own.

In a press release, Bengals Executive vice president Katie Blackburn praised the county and the franchise’s excitement to remain in Cincinnati.

“This is a significant day for the Bengals and Hamilton County as we secure the team’s future in Cincinnati,” Blackburn said. “We thank the Hamilton County Commissioners for supporting this agreement to ensure Paycor Stadium remains an excellent venue and a focal point for Cincinnati’s riverfront. We are proud to call Paycor Stadium our home and to keep our future here in Cincinnati, where it belongs.”

As outlined in the initial news report, the new agreement keeps the Bengals in town until at least the mid-2030s, tacks on the optional extensions similar to the last deal and splits the spending, with the county taking on $350 million and the team $120 million.

The agreement locks in an agreement in which team and county will seek state funding for further renovations.

While a predictable outcome, the parties involved, and especially fans, are sure to be happy this is out of the way before the deadline at the end of the month.
