Bengals avoid injury scare with Myles Murphy after cart ride

The Cincinnati Bengals hope to avoid any major injuries during training camp this summer on the march to the regular season.

They did just that with Shemar Stewart’s scary-looking injury during the first week of camp, as he’s expected back after a brief absence.

To outsiders, at least, they avoided another over the weekend when defensive end Myles Murphy left practice on a cart.

Turns out it was just a cramp.

“Just some cramping, that’s all. A little hot today. I’ll be on the field tomorrow,” Murphy told Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Good news, especially for Murphy, who approaches a critical personal year after the Bengals turned down his fifth-year option. They want him back, but small flashes last year weren’t enough for the team to pick up his $14.4 million option for 2027.

Murphy is a key part of the end rotation in a revamped Bengals defense this year, too, so now was a good reminder that not every cart ride back to the stadium during training camp is very bad news.
