Attending the Red, White & Blue Ash celebration on July 4? Be aware of these rules and safety measures.
The festivities at Summit Park kick off at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, July 4. Live music by Switchfoot starts at 6 p.m. and the Rossi fireworks show will begin at 10 p.m.
Some new regulations are being implemented following a disturbance last year, in which hundreds of teens set off fireworks in a crowd causing a panic.
New safety measures include security personnel, camera surveillance and closures along Glendale Milford Road. The road will be closed from E. Lake Forest Drive to the MadTree property from 3 p.m. to end of the event.
Some Red, White & Blue Ash rules stay the same: No dogs or other pets are allowed. Foldable chairs and blankets are permitted. No tents, stakes, tarps, canopies, or other coverings are allowed. Coolers and outside alcohol are also banned.
But there are changes following last year’s incident. The biggest change requires all visitors to Summit Park under the age of 18 to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for this event.
Road closures
New road closures will also take effect during the event. Glendale Milford Road will be closed from East Lake Forest Drive to the MadTree property beginning at 3 p.m. Reed Hartman Highway will be closed between Anderson Way and Lake Forest Drive. Additional closures will happen along Glendale Milford Road as the night continues and until the event is over.
