Applications for ArtsNow’s 2026 Placemaking Project Grants program opens Aug. 1.
The program, a partnership with the Summit County Land Bank, aims to support community-centered arts and culture projects.
It provides support up to $10,000 for projects that use creative placemaking to “invest in and activate neighborhoods across Summit County,” according to ArtsNow’s website.
Examples of projects include arts festivals, workshops, writing or visual art activities or musical therapy programming.
Funding can support artist fees, production costs, project administration and more.
“Last year, 14 grantees turned an investment of $85,330 into 74 performances, classes and workshops that reached nearly 30,000 residents and visitors,” said Nicole Mullet, executive director of ArtsNow, in a news release.
This year, the city of Akron has committed $25,000 to support projects within Akron, according to the release.
“Through the Placemaking Grant Program, we have an opportunity to support projects that bring residents together, activate public spaces and contribute to safer, healthier communities,” Mayor Shammas Malik said in the release.
Grants will be awarded to 501(c)(3) organizations.
Applications close Aug. 16 at 11:59 p.m., and applicants will be notified in early October.
