The UC Health Medical Center was placed on lockdown July 16 after the public safety team received reports about an “armed individual.”

According to a statement from a UC Health spokesperson, the campus was placed on a brief lockdown in the early afternoon where officials conducted an investigation and recovered a weapon on the property.
The medical campus has now been determined to be safe for all staff and visitors, and the center is continuing to work with local law enforcement on this matter, the statement said.
Cincinnati police Lt. Jonathan Cunningham confirmed a firearm was found at the scene and that no arrests have been made at this time.
The Enquirer reached out to UC Health, but no further information was provided.
This is the second instance of an armed individual at a medical campus on July 16, with Covington police reporting that officers responded to St. Elizabeth-Covington Hospital for a report of a man with a gun around 2:30 a.m.
They then found a man inside who turned the weapon on himself and died by suicide, police say.
Campus operations at UC Health Clifton and St. Elizabeth Covington hospitals are now continuing as normal.
