LANCASTER — The Lancaster area will be well represented at the Ohio High School Athletic Association State Cross Country Championships Saturday at Fortress Obetz.
Four area teams, Lancaster girls, Fairfield Union girls, Fairfield Union boys and Fisher Catholic boys, as well as five individuals, which include, in Division I, Lancaster’s Brock Jarrett and Gabe McNeil, and in Division IV, Fairfield Christian Academy’s Jordan McQueary and Audrey Sisco, and Fisher Catholic’s Mary Grace Crabtree.
The Lancaster girls are defending champions in Division I and the Fairfield Union boys won the state championship in Division II in 2024. The Falcons will be competing in Division III Saturday.
Senior Harper Allen, who ran a personal best in the regional (17:48.55) and earned a third-place finish, leads the way for the Lancaster girls. Connor Runkle placed third in the regional (15:50.09) and leads the way for the Falcons. Vera Henderly (fifth, 18:46.93) and Sadie Schultz (seventh, 19:02.23), who had top 10 finishes in the regional, give the Lady Falcons a one-two punch. Roman Funk (10th, 10:16.45) leads the charge for the Irish, who were Division IV district champions.
The top runners for the Lady Gales: Harper Allen, Brooke Derringer, Hadley Allen, Lily Carpico, Amelia Fires, Ava Zeiders and Lindiwe Neeley.
The top runners for Lady Falcons: Vera Henderly, Sadie Schultz, Katie Springer, Ellen Morgan and Ava Wilkinson.
The top runners for the Falcons: Connor Runkle, Connor Myers, Andrew Ray, Chase Miller, Ryan Boyer, Colin Reindle and Chase Myers.
The top runners for the Irish: Roman Funk, Corbin Stobart, Landen Funk, Reece Hagy, Gordan Crabtree and Nicholas Ristau.
