37-year-old man killed in Winton Hills shooting, police say

A man died after being shot in Winton Hills early Sunday morning, according to Cincinnati police.

Officers responded to the 800 block of Dutch Colony Drive at approximately 3:37 a.m. on July 19 for a report of a person shot, police said in a news release.

When they arrived, they located 37-year-old Montez Yett suffering from a gunshot wound. Cincinnati fire personnel attempted life-saving measures, but Yett was determined to have died at the scene.

Police have not released any information regarding a suspect.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the homicide unit at 513-352-3542.

There have been fewer reported shootings so far in Winton Hills this year, according to a city database that tracks times people are shot.

So far in 2026, there have been 11 reported shootings in the neighborhood. By this time last year, there had been 14 shootings.

Citywide, shootings are also down this year compared to last year. There have been 119 reported shootings across Cincinnati in 2026, compared to 129 by this time in 2025.
