A 31-year-old man is dead and another person is seriously injured after a vehicle crash involving three motorcycles on Columbus’ East Side late on June 21.
The crash occurred around 11:15 p.m. on I-670 westbound, near the Fifth Avenue exit, according to a media release from the Columbus Division of Police.
Keenen McShan Smith was ejected from his motorcycle in the crash and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.
Smith was riding a 2005 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle with other motorcyclists when one of the other motorcyclists sideswiped a Honda Accord, according to police. This caused Smith and a third motorcyclist to be ejected from their bikes onto the roadway, police said.
While Smith died, the other rider was transported to Grant Medical Center and was expected to survive, police said.
The Columbus Police Accident Investigation Unit is looking into the crash. Anyone with knowledge about this incident is encouraged to contact the Columbus Division of Police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS to remain anonymous.
