Rochester police have identified the woman who was shot to death in northeast Rochester early Nov. 2.
Kitana Kendrick, 30, of Rochester was shot by a stray bullet near Pulaski Park on Gothic Street around 1:50 a.m. Nov. 2, said Capt. Frank Umbrino of the Rochester Police Department. Officers were called to the scene after gunfire was reported in the area, he said. Kendrick, who was shot at least once in the torso, was found in the street.
Kendrick was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, Umbrino said.
It appeared that Kendrick was struck by a stray round of gunfire, the result of an argument that escalated, Umbrino said. Kendrick was on Gothic Street when she was shot — and was with the people who were involved in the altercation — but was “not the intended target of the gunfire,” Umbrino said.
No one involved in the argument lived on Gothic Street, according to police.
No charges have been filed in connection with the homicide. Anyone with information or video to call 911, RPD’s Major Crimes Unit at (585) 428-7157, CrimeStoppers (585) 423-9300, or email MajorCrimes@cityofrochester.gov.
