Social Security payments for April will soon be distributed to approximately 69 million Americans, including retirees and those with qualifying disabilities.
For most recipients, Social Security payments are issued on Wednesdays throughout the month. If your birthdate falls between the 1st and 10th, you will receive your payment on the second Wednesday; between the 11th and 20th, your payment will come on the third Wednesday; and if your birthdate is after the 20th, you will be paid on the fourth Wednesday, according to the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) schedule.
Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients will receive their April payment on Tuesday, April 1. The SSA recommends allowing three additional mailing days before contacting them if you don’t receive your payment on the expected date, as 99% of payments are processed electronically.

The Social Security Administration’s yearly distribution schedules for 2025 and 2026 are available online to allow recipients to use the calendar for budgeting purposes. Regular Social Security retirement benefits will be sent out on the SSA’s usual schedule:
What is SSI?
Supplemental Security Income (SSI) provides monthly benefits to people 65 or older, blind, or with a qualifying disability. Children with disabilities can also receive SSI. Eligible adults typically have monthly wages below $2,019.
To apply for SSI, you can start the process online, in person at your local SSA office, or by calling 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time.

The Rochester/Finger Lakes region, including Monroe, Ontario, Wayne, Livingston, Genesee, Wyoming, Orleans, Seneca, and Yates counties, has more than 323,000 Social Security beneficiaries, receiving over $564 million in total payments each month.
In the Hudson Valley, covering Rockland, Westchester, Putnam, Orange, Ulster, Dutchess, and Sullivan counties, over $942 million in monthly payments go to more than 487,000 beneficiaries.
