Wheatland-Chili voters will decide the school budget — key numbers

Voters in the Wheatland-Chili Central School District go to the polls Tuesday, May 19, to vote on a proposed school budget of $25,617,986.

The spending plan is rising by $2,018,789, or 8.55%, from the 2025-2026 budget.

The budget would include a proposed $11,198,789 tax levy, a 3.5% increase. The projected tax rate would be $18.35 per $1,000 of assessed valuation — which is about a 2.54% rate increase.

The tax increase will differ by town as the $18.35 is the blended rate. The differing rates are as follows:

The estimated annual tax on a home worth $200,000 would be $3,670; however, actual tax bills would vary based on equalization rates and STAR exemptions.

For the vote, there are three ballot propositions:

Voting will take place on Tuesday, May 19, at the Middle/High School Gym from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. The voting site is located at 940 North Road, Scottsville.
