CANANDAIGUA — Downtown Canandaigua will serve as the go-to spot for artists and art lovers, especially those who call on Canandaigua and the other Finger Lakes for inspiration.
The Final Fridays Art Walk is scheduled from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 31.
Artists, galleries, interactive experiences, live music, artisan goods, and downtown businesses throughout the historic district will be showcasing works with the theme, “Inspired by the Lakes.”
Guests are encouraged to stroll through downtown where they will discover unique exhibits, meet artists, enjoy live performances, and participate in hands-on creative activities.
The Art Walk celebrates the thriving arts community that makes Downtown Canandaigua a vibrant destination while encouraging visitors to explore the many shops, restaurants and galleries along the way, said Denise Chaapel, director of the Downtown Canandaigua Business Improvement District.
“This event is all about celebrating creativity while bringing people together to experience everything our downtown has to offer,” Chaapel said.
What can you expect during the Final Fridays Art Walk in Canandaigua?
A host of special events are planned as part of the city’s celebration of the arts. Here is what’s planned.
Gallery 32, 32 S. Main St., is hosting an Ontario County Arts Council members exhibition featuring artists Mike Nyerges, Tina Beyea and Kim Ferguson. Visitors will be able to meet the artists and discover the stories behind their works.
Art Space 36, 36 S. Main St., will celebrate Wayne Williams’ Summer Soirée window installation. You can also create your own tarot card during an interactive workshop.
Sights & Shades, 94 S. Main St., will host the opening of Anna Kern’s newest collection. Meet the artist during a special reception beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Canandaigua Record Exchange, 15 Coy St., will celebrate Ariana Grande’s newest release during a 6 p.m. listening party, which includes giveaways and prizes.
Peacemaker Brewing Co., 39 Coach St., will be serving handcrafted beer and hosting live music by the Ben Cole Band from 6 to 9 p.m.
Anna Kern Gallery, 83 S. Main St., is downtown’s newest gallery and features Kern’s collection of original artwork.
Mystic Mermaid Artisan Collective, 87 S. Main St., features a thoughtfully curated collection of handcrafted artwork and unique artisan gifts.
Tavern Off Main, 14 Phoenix St., will offer live music by The Rehabenaros from 7to 10 p.m.
Sweet Expressions, 169 S. Main St., will host handcrafted chocolate demonstrations at 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Vital Garnish, 145 S. Main St., is participating in the community art installation “Love Over All.” You can donate a piece of wall art to become part of a permanent collaborative display celebrating creativity, kindness and connection.

Visitors who stroll to each participating stop and complete their Art Walk guide will be entered for a chance to win $100 in Downtown Canandaigua gift certificates.
