Early in Joe Brady’s tenure as head coach of the Buffalo Bills he came to a bit of a crossroads with new safety CJ Gardner-Johnson at the center of it.
Gardner-Johnson, 28, signed in Buffalo earlier this offseason via a one-year deal. He has had some negative off-field headlines follow him in his career but Brady himself has previously has stated he likes Gardner-Johnson’s edge.
However, Gardner-Johnson potentially brought an early off-field issue to the Bills by live streaming his journey with his new team. That involved streaming inside the Bills’ locker room and one video ended abruptly when Brady told him to cut it off.
Despite how it might have looked, both parties downplayed it.
“There’s standards, and there’s a personality that I want us to be about. And that’s what we handle in team meetings. And if I see things that is not the standard or living up to it, or it is getting in the way of it, then I’ll address it,” Brady told reporters. “But something like that, that was not an issue. That was not a concern.”
Gardner-Johnson did not make a big deal about the matter either, but did admit he will listen to Brady’s orders.
“We only stream throughout the day, and away from the locker room and away from the training room,” Gardner-Johnson said.
Additionally, Gardner-Johnson said a live stream away from the practice field that he will continue to video. That clip from one of his streams can be found below:
