What we learned from the Bills' 23-19 loss to the Texans in Week 12

The Buffalo Bills taught us some things this past week.

The Bills (7-4) lost a 23-19 final against the Houston Texans (6-5) in Week 12 on “Thursday Night Football.”

While not a high-scoring affair, it was an up-and-down occasion. In the end, Houston’s defense could not be overcome.

Here are Bills Wire’s three things we learned from the Bills’ loss to the Texans:

Injuries have piled up

The injury situation for the Bills against the Texans was at a next level.

At one point, player after player kept going down. It did not help the cause.

After quarterback Josh Allen avoided being hurt, but many teammates ended up injured such as linebacker Terrel Bernard (elbow), offensive lineman Spencer Brown (shoulder), cornerback Maxwell Hairston (concussion) and more.

The Bills have an extended time off before their next game… thankfully.

Josh could use some help

Bills quarterback Josh Allen was beaten up by a strong Texans defensive line. He stood little chance.

Not only did Allen have an issue with pass protection, his wide receivers still do not get much separation. Players don’t get open, especially down the field.

Defense still worrisome

Credit to the Bills defense, the unit held the game close in the second half.

Early on, they did not. It’s worth noting because the Texans have a subpar offense. They still found successes against Buffalo because of missed tackles and broken plays, the same things that have plagued the Bills throughout the year.

At this point, this might not be fixed in 2025.
