Westchester County adds opening day for Playland pool to summer openings list

Despite ongoing uncertainty surrounding Playland in Rye, Westchester residents will still be able to enjoy the amusement park’s pool. Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins said the pool — rebuilt as part of the county’s $150 million Playland infrastructure investment — will open at end of June.

According to the Westchester County Parks Department’s online schedule, the pool is slated to open June 27 through Sept. 1.

How much is the admission fee at Playland pool?

A park pass or proof of Westchester County residency with a valid New York driver’s license is required at pools. There is a five-guest limit for each adult pass holder and non-park pass holder. You can learn more about how to get a park pass online.

Admission fees for the pool at Playland are as follows (unlike other Westchester County pools, proof of residency and/or a park pass is not required):

Other fee scenarios, including for children of adults who don’t have a park pass, are on the county’s website.

What are the hours at Playland pool?

All Westchester-operated pools open from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at county parks, with no one admitted after 6 p.m.

When will Playland open?

The amusement park will open Memorial Day weekend, two weeks later than the typical Mother’s Day weekend opening and with likely a reduced set of rides in the early season and potentially into summer.

Jenkins’ announcement came a week after the county’s emergency order letting it select Zamperla, Inc. to determine what needs to be done for the park’s rides to be in safe working condition and then maintain them. The county ratified an emergency repair contract with Zamperla on May 8, clearing the way for the operator to inspect, repair, replace and maintain certain rides at the amusement park.
