It’s time to take a look at the standout performers from Section V.
Your vote will determine who will be the Faber Builders Boys Sports Athlete of the Week for March 9-15. The players’ credentials are listed above the poll — which will be live until 8 p.m. Wednesday. The winner will be announced on our Instagram page Thursday morning.
The nominees are chosen by our sports reporters. If you would like to call attention to an athlete’s performance to be considered for the nomination, please email sports@democratandchronicle.com by 7 p.m. each Sunday. All athletes who play on Section V boys teams are eligible to be nominated.

Jamire “JJ” Johnson
A 6 foot-6 inch tall center on the Lyons boys basketball team, who finished with a total of 46 points and 22 rebounds in two games won by the Lions. Johnson finished with 29 points and 15 rebounds against Honeoye in a state tournament qualifier game. The 2025 Democrat and Chronicle All-Greater Rochester Boys Basketball Team member then had 17 points and 7 rebounds during the Lions’ victory in the Class C state quarterfinals.
Casey Reagan
Pittsford hockey defenseman had one of the Panthers’ goals in a state semifinal matchup on Saturday.
Adam Wakelee
Victor boys bowling team member finished in third place in the Division I or large schools individual championships at Syracuse Lanes. Wakelee knocked down 1,363 pins in his set of six games, with an average score of 227.17. His best game was his third, when he rolled a score of 267.
