Trader Joe’s latest seasonal mini tote bag will be hitting the shelves in mid-June.
Customers can purchase the California-based chain’s newest tote bag, a striped canvas mini tote, in stores starting Wednesday, June 17, said company spokeswoman Nakia Rhode.
Striped mini tote bag details
The bag will be available in four striped colors. The bag is 65% cotton/35% polyester blend fabric with a pocket on each side.
Each bag measures about 13 inches long, 11 inches tall and 6 inches wide and will cost $2.99 like previous mini totes sold by Trader Joe’s. Availability will vary by store.
Summer is for stripes in the latest batch of Trader Joe’s mini canvas tote bags, which went viral and sold out with every recent new release.
Some folks use the smaller totes as reusable gift bags, others find them to be a perfect vessel for a craft – such as a knitting project – library books or a small picnic lunch. Some people collect them to simply have them.
According to Trader Joe’s, the canvas bags are best used when “you’re just picking up something for lunch, or grabbing those items you forgot the first time around.”
Viral sales and knockoff totes
The popular bags have seen a lot of activity in the resale market, with demand extending to international markets.
They’ve also been copied as some duplicates are being sold outside Trader Joe’s stores, Rhode said in an email.
“We are aware that some knockoff totes are being sold online,” she said, adding that the company has filed a lawsuit to “protect our customers from being misled.”
“It’s very important to us that our customers are getting what they’ve paid for,” Rhode said in an email. “That’s one of the reasons we only offer Trader Joe’s products for sale inside Trader Joe’s stores. This enables us to put our customers first, ensuring they’re getting authentic Trader Joe’s products.”
The chain sold pastel-colored mini tote bags in delicate pink, baby blue, mint green and lovely lavender in mid-March as part of a viral seasonal tote and mini-tote trend that previously included Halloween-themed colors and the original canvas mini totes . Last month, the company also sold insulated mini totes in six vibrant colors.
