These 3 Westchester beaches will be closed June 24. Here is why

Beaches in three Westchester localities will be closed Wednesday, June 24, after more than an inch of rainfall that could potentially cause high bacteria levels in the water.

Westchester’s Health Department said in a news release the following beaches will be closed Wednesday:

∎ In Mamaroneck: Harbor Island, Beach Point Club, Orienta Beach Club, and Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club

∎ In Rye: Coveleigh Club

∎ In New Rochelle: Hudson Park Beach, Davenport Club, Greentree Club and Surf Club

The beaches will be allowed to reopen Thursday, June 25, “unless significant additional rainfall is observed,” the county health department said.
