An 18-year-old man accused of murder in Poughkeepsie has been identified as the suspect in a Peekskill shooting.
Peekskill Police said Anthony Taylor, 18, was recently identified as the suspect in a shooting during a fight near Main Street and Charles Street in Peekskill on Aug. 17. Taylor was also recently arraigned on charges for his alleged role in an October shooting in Poughkeepsie.
Taylor arrested Oct. 27 after fleeing to Maryland
Dutchess County District Attorney Anthony Parisi said Taylor was indicted for murder and two counts of weapons possessions in the death of a 22-year-old man in Poughkeepsie on Oct. 3.
City of Poughkeepsie Police said Taylor fled the city to Maryland after the shooting. He was arrested Monday and brought back to Poughkeepsie by police.
“This arrest marks an important step toward justice,” said District Attorney Parisi. “The individual in custody faces allegations related to a brazen daytime shooting that put not only the intended target, but also innocent bystanders, including county employees, in serious danger.”
Taylor pleaded not guilty in Dutchess County Court Tuesday morning to the charges relating to the Oct. 3 shooting. If he is convicted, he could face 25 years to life in prison.
