St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Orthodox Church will be holding its 96th Ukrainian Day Festival on July 12.
The festival is “one of the oldest Ukrainian festivals in the nation,” St. John’s parishioner Colleen Brown said, and will feature a variety of Ukrainian food, live performances and games.
“Our goal with the festival is to share our Ukrainian culture, keep our traditions alive, and engage the community to enjoy our traditions,” Brown said.
The church has worked to assist and sponsor several families affected by the Ukraine-Russia war and Brown said attendees are encouraged to wear blue and yellow to the festival.
Here’s what to know about the 2025 event.
When is the Ukrainian Day Festival?
The festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 12 at 1 Saint Johns Parkway in Johnson City.
What food will be served at the Ukrainian Day Festival?
A variety of traditional Ukrainian foods will be offered, according to the Facebook event, including:
There will also be an outdoor grill serving spiedies, hot dogs and hamburgers.
What entertainment will be offered at the Ukrainian Day Festival?
There will be live entertainment at the Ukrainian festival. At 2 p.m. St. John’s Choir performs, along with folk dancers.
The festival will also have a gift shop, yard games and basket raffles. Further, a church tour will be held at 4 p.m.
