See it: New York Giants rookies throw out first pitch at Yankees game

On Friday, New York Giants rookies Arvell Reese and Francis Mauigoa threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the New York Yankees game.

The pair stood side by side as they delivered their pitches at Yankee Stadium. Neither rookie was able to throw a strike, but both efforts were impressive given their lack of baseball experience.

Reese and Mauigoa were unable to bring the Yankees any good luck, however, as the Boston Red Sox defeated New York, 5-3, later that evening. The duo will undoubtedly perform at a much higher level on the gridiron this season, as both players look to follow up their ceremonial first pitches with strong rookie campaigns.

The Giants selected Reese with the fifth overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft and Mauigoa five picks later at No. 10. Reese was widely regarded as the top linebacker in college football last season, while Mauigoa was a key contributor to Miami’s 2025 College Football Playoff run.

Each rookie is expected to play a critical role at his position this season, and both have the potential to quickly emerge as stars for New York.
