State Federation tournament
Newburgh’s Yan wins title: Newburgh Free Academy golfer Josh Yan shot a 4-under-par 67 at James Baird State Park golf course in Pleasant Valley to win the New York State Federation title by three strokes. Yan gained a berth by placing in the top six (fourth) at the recent state public school championships. Also participating were golfers from the New York City Public Schools Athletic League; the Catholic High School Athletic Association; and, the Association of Independent Schools. On the girls side, Isabella Ok of Goshen placed sixth with a 9-over 82 (eight strokes behind the champ). A year ago, Yan placed fourth and Ok second in their respective events.
