Yorktown beats Ossining, Section 1 flag football scoreboard, schedule

Flag football season is back.

Section 1 play kicked off with its first games last week. For the first time, Section 1 has a defending state champion in its ranks as Scarsdale won the Class A state title last season. Tappan Zee, which has several players coming off a girls basketball state championship, begins its defense of its Section 1 title this week. Tappan Zee made it all the way to the Class B state championship game a year ago.

Wednesday, March 18

Eastchester 18, Ardsley 13 – Maddie Erdman threw touchdown passes to Alexa Keller, Ava Ciarletta and Sarah Mortenson as the Eagles opened the regular season with a win.

Friday, March 20

Mahopac 19, Lakeland 0 – Kayleigh Dolan, Maria Garofalo and Gianna Dolan each scored touchdowns as the Wolf Pac opened their season with a shutout on the road.

Putnam Valley 21, John Jay-Cross River 0 – Summer Scrocca had 64 total yards, including a pick-six in the Tigers’ season-opening win. Blaze Connolly had six rushes for 70 yards with two touchdowns and scored all three extra points.

Monday, March 23

New Rochelle 46, Port Chester 0 – Abigail Rogers had three passing touchdowns, Liliana Cardona had a receiving and a passing touchdown, Nazly Contreras had a receiving touchdown and Madison Lanier had an interception and a pick-six.

Eastchester 13, Dobbs Ferry 13 – Ava Ciarletta had two interceptions and two touchdowns for Eastchester.

Putnam Valley 6, Somers 0 – Blaze Connolly scored the game-winning, 65-yard pick-six for the Tigers.

Brewster 45, Irvington 0 – Sofia Rosamilla had four passing touchdowns, Avery Dudones had two receiving touchdowns and Janelle Estevez scored an extra point.

Fox Lane 0, Horace Greeley 0 – The Foxes and Quakers played to a scoreless tie.

Tuesday, March 24

Lakeland 26, Hendrick Hudson 6

Yonkers 13, Woodlands 7 – Javaeh Thompson had a pick-six followed by an extra point by Nausa Isa for Yonkers. Myrian Areche had a rushing touchdown for Yonkers.

Avionna Moore had five catches and a touchdown for Woodlands. Kenly McDonald had five catches. Julisa Moore had two catches and an interception.

Byram Hills 13, John Jay-Cross River 12 – Della Gonzalez tossed the game-winning touchdown pass to Emerson Pace with Angjelina Vataj catching the go-ahead PAT. Pace also had three interceptions.

Westlake 35, Eastchester 19 – Juliana DiMarino had eight rushes for 160 yards and a touchdown and was 10 for 14 for 130 yards with two touchdown passes in the Wildcats’ road win. Mar Rivera Font had six receptions for 90 yards and two touchdowns.

Yorktown 6, Mahopac 0 – Jordan Vaught had a 58-yard touchdown pass to Erin Duffy for the game’s only score. Sydney Soliz had five sacks, two tackles and a tackle for loss for Yorktown.

Wednesday, March 25

Arlington 14, Carmel 0 – Gianna Martin had a touchdown run, Jayde Triunfo had a touchdown catch and an interception, and Analia Thompson had two interceptions for Arlington.

Putnam Valley 40, Irvington 0 – Eshanna Singh had three interceptions, including two pick-sixes for Putnam Valley. Lia Buerkle was 9 for 21 for 139 with a touchdown and three extra points.

Lakeland 12, Ossining 0

John Jay-Cross River 24, Clarkstown 6

Mahopac 41, Wappingers 0 – Maria Garofalo had 17 completions for 121 passing yards with four touchdowns for the Wolf Pac.

Nyack 19, Somers 6

Scarsdale 7, New Rochelle 0 – Gia Asen had a touchdown and an interception for Scarsdale.

Horace Greeley 41, Walter Panas 0 – Kate Conners had three touchdowns for Greeley. Sydney Goodman and Isabella Flores each scored a touchdown.

Westlake/Briarcliff 26, Bronxville 12

Fox Lane 46, Port Chester 6 – Riley New had three touchdown passes for Fox Lane. Lily Rosenthal and Siena Palmer each had two touchdowns for Fox Lane, with one of Palmer’s being an interception return. Brittany Aguilar Duarte had a touchdown reception, Natalie Mazzuca had an interception return touchdown and Amanda Mazzuca had a rushing touchdown.

Thursday, March 26

Yorktown 14, Somers 0 – Sophia Marcello threw for 73 yards and had a touchdown pass to Kiera Mooney for Yorktown. Eva Monaco had a rushing touchdown for Yorktown.

North Rockland 22, Peekskill 12

Hendrick Hudson 26, Ardsley 0 – Nicole Facciolo threw for 138 yards with four touchdowns.

Byram Hills 38, Hudson River 12 – Amelia Amenedo had 130 yards of total offense and two touchdowns. Emerson Pace had a touchdown reception and an interception. Della Gonzalez threw two touchdown passes.

Tappan Zee 20, Brewster 6 – Eve Girardi had two touchdown passes, Emerson Prendergast had an interception return for a touchdown, Niamh Donnelly had an interception and a receiving touchdown and Ella Sabatini had a receiving touchdown for Tappan Zee.

Friday, March 27

Scarsdale 36, Maria Regina 14

Mamaroneck 6, Arlington 6 – Maddie Cashman had a passing touchdown to Elsy O’Connor and Nessa Cutler had seven flag pulls for Mamaroneck, Gia Ramputi had a 40-yard touchdown run for Arlington.

Poughkeepsie 40, Nyack 38 – Aria Martin had four receiving touchdowns, including one for 70 yards for Poughkeepsie.

Mahopac 22, Walter Panas 6 – Maria Garofalo threw for 165 yards and had three passing touchdowns for Mahopac.

Yonkers 25, Clarkstown 0 – Naula Isa had a rushing touchdown and a kick return touchdown for Yonkers. Carla Drobnak had a rushing touchdown and an extra-point conversion for Yonkers.

Lakeland 35, Wappingers 8

Westlake/Briarcliff 44, Dobbs Ferry 26
