The New York state Department of Transportation recently announced lane reductions beginning this week in Monroe County.
To accommodate a pavement rehabilitation project, drivers should expect lane reductions on State Route 204, from Buell Road to Deep Rock Road in the Town of Gates.
State Route 204 will be reduced to a single lane of alternating traffic and controlled by flagging personnel. Work will take place from 6 p.m. on May 14 until 6 a.m. on May 15.
Drivers should also anticipate lane reductions on the ramps between Exits 2 through 6. Traffic will be controlled by traffic barrels and cones.
The project is expected to be completed in time for the July 4 holiday this year.
Drivers should anticipate travel delays during this time and are advised to seek alternate routes if necessary. Construction activities are weather dependent and subject to change based on conditions.
The DOT urges drivers to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.
