After a dog underwent surgery for a deeply infected cut to his neck and throat, a $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction for the person or people who abandoned him, SPCA Westchester said.
SPCA Westchester’s Humane Law Enforcement Unit, in an investigation with Yonkers’ police detective bureau, is asking the public’s help in identifying the dog and those responsible, an SPCA Westchester news release said.
New York State Humane Association is offering the reward for information leading to arrest and conviction, the release said.
On Nov. 21, 2025, a one-year-old tan mixed breed, now named Frankie, was spotted on camera before he was dumped on Saw Mill River Road in Yonkers near Oakland Cemetery, according to the SPCA release.
The dog was taken to a veterinary hospital, where the injuries required a two-hour emergency surgery.
“Without proper veterinary care, this sweet dog would have likely succumbed to his injuries,” Shannon Laukhuf, SPCA Westchester’s chief executive officer, said in the release. “Sadly, Frankie also appeared to be neglected as he was extremely underweight.”
SPCA Westchester asked that anyone with information to call its hotline at 914-941-7797.
