The Brooklyn Nets came into the 2026 NBA offseason with the goal of improving the roster as much as possible following a 2025-26 season in which they finished with a lowly 20-62 record. Brooklyn made one of the bigger moves this offseason by reportedly trading for Minnesota Timberwolves forward Julius Randle, but they also brought back two players that took some risks to come back to the team.
Keith Smith of Spotrac reported on Monday that center Day’Ron Sharpe and forward Josh Minott waived the implied no-trade clauses in their contracts to come back to the Nets. While Brooklyn was able to bring back two players in Sharpe and Minott that should factor heavily into the rotation next season, the duo essentially allows the team to trade them moving forward without their consent.
“Players who sign a one-year contract, or a two-year contract with a player or team option on Year 2, and will have Bird or Early Bird rights, get an implied no-trade clause. Players can choose to waive this implied NTC upon signing their contract,” Smith wrote on X last week. Based on Smith’s definition of how players get implied no-trade clauses, Sharpe and Minott’s deals fit the bill, but it sounds like they’re committed to whatever the Nets want to do.
Sharpe, 24, re-signed with the Nets on a two-year, $20 million contract, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, with the second year being a team option worth $10 million. Sharpe is coming off a 2025-26 season in which he averaged 8.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 60.1% from the field and 67.8% from the free-throw line.
Minott, 23, came back to Brooklyn by signing a two-year, $9 million deal with the second year being a team option, presumably worth $4.5 million, though that figure has yet to be confirmed. Minott is fresh off a 2025-26 season in which he averaged 10.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 49.1% from the floor and 39.5% from deep in 16 games played for the Nets.
