The New York Giants will enter the 2026 campaign with a multitude of weapons on the offensive side of the football.
New York signed veteran Darnell Mooney to a one-year deal this offseason, adding an instant boost to the Giants’ wide receiver room. Mooney spent the past two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, where the veteran served as the team’s WR2 behind Drake London.
Additionally, the Giants will begin the season with one of the most promising backfields in the NFL. Star running back Cam Skattebo is expected to enter the year fully healthy after suffering a season-ending ankle injury in 2025, while fellow halfback Tyrone Tracy Jr. will look to shine as well.
Both Mooney and Tracy reportedly played at an extremely high level during New York’s spring practices. Giants analyst John Schmeelk recently shared his thoughts on the duo’s production, stating they helped themselves more than any other offensive players.
I’m going to go with two veterans who have already proven themselves to be good NFL players: wide receiver Darnell Mooney and running back Tyrone Tracy Jr.
With injuries to Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton and Cam Skattebo, Mooney and Tracy were shifted into the spotlight for the majority of the summer and were able to show this new coaching staff what they can do. Mooney was consistently productive while Tracy showed his ability in both the run and pass games.
Mooney has recorded 4,028 yards and 17 touchdowns across his first six seasons with the Chicago Bears and the Falcons. Tracy has continued to flash elite potential over the first two years of his career, and the talented running back could quickly emerge as a star in 2026 considering Schmeelk’s report.
The duo will undoubtedly play a critical role in the Giants’ offense this season. Mooney is a talented veteran who should have no problem developing a consistent connection with star quarterback Jaxson Dart, while Tracy now finds himself in prime position for a true breakout year in 2026.
