President Donald Trump named the New York Giants among a short list of Super Bowl contenders while attending the Patriot Games in Ohio this week.
Asked by ESPN reporter Laura Rutledge which NFL teams he was watching ahead of the 2026 season, Trump somewhat reluctantly broke down his picks.
“I’ll pick a few. I think New England looks good. The Giants, I like their quarterback a lot,” he said. “They say the LA Rams are looking very strong, but I better not get into this too much. I’m gonna get myself in trouble if I do.”
The president’s praise for Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart continues a public affinity that began earlier this year. In May, Dart introduced Trump at a rally in Suffern, New York. The appearance created short-lived drama inside the Giants locker room after teammate Abdul Carter questioned the decision on social media.
The team held a meeting to address the situation, and both players later indicated they had moved past it. Dart explained that he accepted the invitation out of respect for the office of the presidency and his family’s military service.
Trump has repeatedly complimented Dart’s talent and presence since then. By including the Giants alongside the Patriots and Rams in his early Super Bowl outlook, the president once again highlighted his support of New York’s young quarterback as the season approaches.
