Playland Park’s season opens officially in Rye on Saturday, May 23, and includes a ceremonial reopening of the “beloved and iconic Dragon Coaster,” a news release said.
The park grand opening ceremony will start at 11:30 a.m., with the park opening to the public at noon.
A 12:15 p.m. ceremony will reopen the dragon coaster.
Playland’s Summer 2026 schedule
After the Saturday, May 23, through Monday, May 25, Memorial Day Weekend, the park will have a Wednesday-through-Sunday schedule through Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7, the county said in March. The park will also be open Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 12 and 13.
Fourth of July fireworks will return and weekly Friday night fireworks thereafter, the county said.
Other draws include the gondola wheel, the historic grand carousel, Kiddyland rides and food offerings.
When will Playland Beach, pool open?
A news release earlier this year said the beach will open for preseason starting Saturday, May 23, at 11 a.m., then open on a summer schedule with the pool on Friday, June 26, and will be open daily, weather permitting, through Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7.
Park schedule, hours and other information are at playlandpark.org.
It’s the park’s 98th season.
Westchester County invested “close to $150 million into capital projects to restore the historic beauty of the park as it is the true backbone of the park,” County Executive Ken Jenkins said in an April 20 news release.
Jenkins added: “This investment is about more than restoring rides and infrastructure, it’s about protecting the history, the character and the spirit that make Playland so special. We are proud to serve as stewards of this iconic destination, and we are committed to ensuring it continues to bring joy, connection and lasting memories to families for generations to come.”
