The New York State Department of Transportation is notifying drivers about an overnight closure on I-490 in Gates.
To accommodate the installation of overhead sign structures, I-490 East will close between I-390 and State Route 33, near Buffalo Road, from 10 p.m. on May 6 until 5 a.m. on May 7.
I-390 ramps to I-490 East will also be closed to traffic; drivers are advised to follow the posted detour using State Route 33A, near Chili Avenue, State Route 204 and I-390.
Drivers should anticipate travel delays during this time and are advised to seek alternate routes if necessary. Construction schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions.
Drivers are also being urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.
Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of a driver’s license.
