Oneonta captured the team title and eight girls repeated as sectional titlists at the Section 4 girls wrestling championships Friday, Feb. 13 at Visions Veterans Memorial Arena in Binghamton.
Three runner-up finishes helped the Yellowjackets to a winning point total of 150. Chenango Forks was runner-up with 141.5, and Elmira edged Groton for third place by one point. Defending team champion Waverly finished sixth.

Among the repeat sectional champions were two runners-up from last year’s inaugural New York State Public High School Athletic Association championships: Teagan McGuinness of Union-Endicott/Maine-Endwell/Vestal at 185 pounds and Windsor’s Delaney Dixon at 145.
McGuinness pinned Tioga Central’s Kyah Nelson in her final in a matchup of 2025 sectional champions.
Dixon had three first-minute pins for her title.
The other repeat champions were Walton/Delhi’s Cadence Guy (100 pounds), Windsor’s Kyrsten Yadlosky (107), Sidney’s Isabella Phelps (114), Spencer-Van Etten/Candor’s Tayah Beach (120), Groton’s Carmen Bishop (132) and Chenango Forks’ Jansen Derzanovich (165).
Also victorious in championship finals were Newark Valley’s Hadley Merrill (94), Ithaca’s Rayna Coller (126), Tioga Central’s Amelia Toomey (138), Windsor’s Ana Cartagena (152) and Horseheads’ Ellisa Bly (235).
Up Next
Friday’s tournament was a state qualifier for the state championships, which will be held Thursday, Feb. 26 at MVP Arena in Albany.
All weight-class winners qualified for state, along with runners-up at 120, 126, 132, 138, 145, 165 and 185.
