New York Giants' Tyrone Tracy Jr. excited to run behind Patrick Ricard

The New York Giants did not add a running back in the 2026 NFL draft, nor did they sign one in free agency. The only addition was UDFA Damon Bankston, a player signed more with special teams in mind.

Big Blue appears to be content with its committee approach of Tyrone Tracy Jr., Cam Skattebo, and Devin Singletary. Tracy had another fine season in 2025, and Singletary is also a reliable veteran who can add a jolt to an offense. The only major question among the group is how well Skattebo returns from the serious ankle injury he suffered last midseason.

An extra dynamic was added to the group in free agency in March when the Giants signed six-time Pro Bowl fullback Patrick Ricard, a 300-pound former defensive lineman who is nicknamed “Pancake Pat.”

Tracy recently spoke about the prospect of running behind Ricard in John Harbaugh and Greg Roman’s new rushing attack.

“It’s different. It’s going to be different, man, because obviously you didn’t really have it last year,” said Tracy. “You had a — you got a tight end last year. So this year, with an actual fullback, 300 pounds, I mean, I’m letting him go to work, really… I’m like, bro, I told him, like, bro, look, you do what you need to do.”

The Giants’ running game got an infusion of toughness the past year, with Skattebo, Ricard, and first-round draft pick guard Sisi Mauigoa, but Tracy believes Ricard could make the biggest impact.

“So I know a lot of dudes ain’t gonna wanna block you, or they weren’t gonna be blocked by you. So at the end of the day, man, I told (Ricard) that me and you, bro, we gonna make each other a lot of money,” Tracy said.
