The New York Giants will be out on the practice field again on Friday morning for the third workout of their 2025 training camp. Temperatures will be rising in the Northeast, and conditions will be very uncomfortable.
What also will be hot is the competition for the No. 2 cornerback spot between Deonte Banks and Cor’Dale Flott. The Giants signed Paulson Adebo this offseason in free agency to take over their No. 1 spot, which put pressure on the others to step up and challenge for the other job.

On Thursday, head coach Brian Daboll was asked what he saw from Banks, who was rotating with Flott, on Day 1.
“It’s so early, and I understand we’re looking at guys right now. It was the first day. Tae’s working hard, and we’ll evaluate him throughout camp like we will everybody else,” he said/
Banks, a former first-round pick in 2023, had a down season last year and even had his desire to play questioned by coaches and teammates. He did have eight pass breakups, but was graded 182nd out of 222 cornerbacks last year by Pro Football Focus.
The Giants are giving Flott, a former third-round pick out of LSU, a chance to win the job. He started 10 games last year and had 53 total tackles, one more than Banks, who started 14 games.
This camp, Banks has gotten the message that his job is on the line. On Thursday, he defended a pass and has been more aggressive in his coverage of receivers.
“Deonte Banks continues to play sticky, physical coverage on receivers outside,” wrote John Schmeelk of Giants.com. “He is not leaving an inch of breathing room on many plays.”
Banks will need to continue that in order to distance himself from Flott, who has played fairly well in his opportunities. He gave up a touchdown to veteran wideout Darius Slayton on Day 1, but keep in mind, there is no real contact at camp as of yet.
