New York Giants quarterback Jameis Winston has another 12 years left in him, or so he believes.
Winston was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft. The 32-year-old has played 11 seasons in the NFL.
Winston is one of only nine quarterbacks in NFL history to throw for 5,000 or more yards in a season (5,109). The feat itself has only been achieved 15 times. He’s thrown for 4,000 or more yards on two other occasions (2015-16).
Winston’s 189 passing yards per game in 2025 had him on pace to throw for over 3,000 yards (3,213) in his first season in New York, had he started in all 17 games.
As a guest on Monday’s episode of “Pardon My Take,” Winston made clear his intentions to play for 12 more years in the NFL after the conclusion of his 12th-career season in 2026.
“I would love to play 12 years, right? And that’s just 12,” Winston said.
Winston will be 44 at the conclusion of his potential 24th season in the league. The Alabama native is not short of confidence that he’ll be able to make the throws required of him at that age.
“In terms of my arm, like, I’m blessed. Like, I’m really grateful,” Winston said.
The Giants have Winston under contract until the end of next season. New York is in danger of losing backup QB Russell Wilson in free agency this offseason. Winston’s faculties as an arm talent are still intact. He will seek his next NFL contract in 2027.
