New York Giants linebacker Arvell Reese has been sharp throughout training camp so far.
Following Friday’s padded practice, Reese said he values not missing assignments on defense no matter where he has been utilized.
“That’s very important. That’s my job to do that. I get to do that, you feel me? So, it’s very important,” he told reporters. “I take a lot of pride in that, in knowing my stuff and making sure I’m doing everything right. Mistakes happen, but try to just limit those mistakes and not make the same mistake twice.
“I think last practice, I wasn’t really getting downhill in the run. Today, that’s what I was looking forward to doing.”
Reese will start at inside linebacker for the Giants in 2026 next to Tremaine Edmunds. He viewed himself as more of an edge rusher before the 2026 NFL draft, but the Giants’ coaching staff assigned him the same position he played at Ohio State in 2025 after selecting him with the No. 5 overall pick this year.
The 20-year-old has impressed in coverage and against the run. Reese has lined up at multiple positions and will have the rest of training camp to practice with the team before the preseason begins.
