The Washington Commanders placed Davidson on the reserve/retired list Saturday as part of a series of roster moves that included signing three offensive linemen. Davidson had joined the Commanders in late March after spending his first four NFL seasons with the New York Giants.
The Giants selected Davidson in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL draft out of Arizona State. The 6-foot-5, 320-pound interior defender appeared in 47 games with four starts over those four seasons, recording 49 tackles, 2.5 sacks, three passes defensed and two fumble recoveries.
His rookie campaign ended early when he tore his ACL in Week 5 against the Green Bay Packers. Davidson returned to provide rotational depth behind Dexter Lawrence and others but never secured a consistent starting role. His 2025 season concluded after 15 appearances when a neck injury and concussion landed him on injured reserve (IR) in late December.
Davidson’s departure from the Giants this offseason formed part of the defensive line reshaping under general manager Joe Schoen and head coach John Harbaugh. He leaves the league after four-plus seasons and less than five months with his second team.
