A 31-year-old who was trespassing in a Byrne Dairy in New Hartford was found to have an arrest warrant in Syracuse and fought police, according to a statement from the New Hartford Police Department.
At around 12 p.m. on June 2, a call came in to the New Hartford Police Department for 31 Campion Road in the village of New Hartford. Staff at the Byrne Dairy reported a trespass complaint.
Officers were investigating the trespass complaint and identified the man reported as 31-Year-old Jonathan Lancto, no known address. Police learned that Lancto was wanted by the Syracuse Police Department on multiple arrest warrants for various misdemeanor crimes.
As New Hartford police were taking Lancto into custody on the warrants, a statement from the New Hartford Police Department says Lancto began to fight with officers and resist arrest. During the altercation, police say Lancto caused damage to a New Hartford Police SUV that was parked at the time.
Lancto was charged with resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, and criminal mischief.
He was processed on these charges, answerable to the town of New Hartford Court at a later date.
Lancto also was turned over to investigators with the Syracuse Police Department due to the warrants.
