National Weather Service says clear skies and no rain for Fourth of July

After storms and tornadoes, lovely weather is on the forecast for the Fourth of July, according to the National Weather Service.

“It’s looking absolutely fantastic, for once,” Meteorologist Michael Kistner said with a chuckle. “It’s looking like it’ll be a great day with no weather impacts — from the Syracuse area, down the I-90 corridor, and right on through to Utica.”

Temperatures are looking to be around in the high 70s to near 80s during the day and as it gets closer to the evening and the night, temperatures cool.

“Around fireworks time, around 9 to 10 p.m., we’re looking at temperatures in the low to mid 60s,” Kistner said.

Kistner said by current weather models as of July 2, there were no chances for precipitation.

“Skies are looking clear, but we might have a little elevated wildfire smoke from Canada,” he added.

Skies might have what Kistner described as a “milky” look to them, but air quality shouldn’t be affected due to the height the wildfire smoke is — around 25,000 to 30,000 in the atmosphere.

“You won’t notice it that much, but there might be a little haze,” he said. “It should have no impact to air quality.”
