Woman dies in Taylor County crash, teen injured

A woman died in a crash Monday morning in Taylor County, the Texas Department of Public Safety said in a media release.

The two-vehicle crash happened at 7:12 a.m. Monday at exit 274 off Interstate Highway 20 to the south service road, the DPS said.

Anna Louise McGuire, 74, of Tye was driving a 2006 Hyundai Electra west on the south service road of I-20 and approaching the yield sign at exit 274, according to the DPS preliminary investigation. She had a 14-year-old passenger, also from Tye, in the car.

Tristan Andrew Harding, 22, of Weatherford was driving a 2024 Kia Forte eastbound on I-20 and was trying to use the 274 exit, the DPS said.

The driver of the Hyundai failed to yield the right of way to the Kia Forte passenger car, resulting in a collision, the DPS said.

McGuire was transported to Hendrick North for treatment and pronounced dead at 11:32 a.m. by Dr. Branden Kret, the DPS said.

The 14-year-old girl was also transported to Hendrick North with serious bodily injuries, the DPS said.

The DPS did not release the name of the girl in Tuesday’s media release. It is their policy to withhold the names of minors involved in crashes.

Harding was transported to the same hospital with minor injuries, the DPS said. They were all wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
