A motorcyclist was killed after he was struck by a sport utility vehicle in the Southern Tier over the weekend, according to New York State Police.
SUV, motorcycle crash in Candor NY
The crash occurred just after noon on Saturday, May 16 on State Route 96 (Owego Road) in Candor, Tioga County, troopers said. A southbound SUV struck a northbound motorcycle near Iron Kettle Farms after the 88-year-old SUV driver reportedly turned into the path of the oncoming motorcycle without noticing it was approaching.
The motorcyclist was “unable to avoid” the SUV and struck the oncoming vehicle, according to State Police.
What happened to the 2 drivers
Both motorists were taken to Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania. The motorcyclist, whose name was not released, died from his injuries, troopers said. The SUV driver was in stable condition.
