One person is dead after a motorcycle crash in the Town of Newark Valley.
The Tioga County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a serious crash between a car and a motorcycle at 4:22 p.m. on July 17 on Settle Road in Newark Valley.
Following an investigation, the sheriff’s office determined the motorcycle was traveling north on Settle Road when it “failed to negotiate a curve,” entered the southbound lane and struck another vehicle that was traveling south, according to a press release.
The operator of the motorcycle, identified as Riley J. Ayers, died. The operator of the other vehicle, Bouasone Chansavath, was transported to UHS Wilson Medical Center with injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
The Tioga County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by its Crash Investigation and Drone Unit, the Newark Valley Fire Department, the Campville Fire Department, Maine EMS and New York State Police.
